Bus Driving 101
I drove a school bus at Walnut Grove School on Friday as they could not find a sub driver. It is amazing how many students describe where they live as right up there. Undoubtedly bus drivers are psychic and know where right up there is and automatically stop the bus at the right house. Great bus drivers know exactly what students mean even if they do not say it, can see what 60-70 students are doing directly behind them without looking and still manage to keep a 52 ft long bus on a 2 lane road and dodge traffic without having a nervous break down.
I had the opportunity to attend the Special Olympics Competition on Tuesday. What an amazing group of athletes and volunteers. Madison County Schools was well represented with athletes, teachers, principals and Central Office personnel. Special recognition goes to Kay Scott the teacher who coordinates this activity for our system.

School Support People are Great!
I appreciate all that our support people do for our students in the Madison County School System. Many of them are working by 6:00 a.m. fixing breakfast, driving buses, opening school doors and making sure school is ready for another day. They are a very under recognized group.
Thanks to TASSRO
I appreciate what our school resource officers and their organization do for all of our schools. I also appreciate that the organization is working to get training and resources for the officers
